Emily+David – Weston Red Barn Farm Wedding

A couple weeks ago Emily’s florist, Yellow Flower House, contacted me for some pictures and I am so glad she did. Emily and David got married in September…of 2016, and while I always have high hopes after the fall/Christmas whirlwind to go back and share, it never happened.  This gave me the perfect opportunity to dig these photos out of the archives and edit a few…or a hundred of their beautiful day. So much love and uniqueness to their special day that shines through. Emily and David had a simple natural elegance to their day, and between them and their army of creative friends and family they had so many special touches that made their day stunning at Weston Red Barn Farm.

Love photographing my sister and her kids when they come to town. I think this is one of our best shoots, quick to the point and no tears shed. That is a obstacle when you have 3 or more kids. I am pretty sure every photo of us as kids one of us was fighting and at least one person was crying in the photo. My mom unnoticeably worked so hard to wrangle all 5 kids looking presentable to, and then someone would ruin it but actually I feel like they kind of made it.  So tears or no tears all family photos are good photos, and kudos to the moms and dads that make it a point to document those sweet changing smiles.

Hunter+Jenna – First Creek Farm

Now that I am in my downtime I am hoping to update the site and share a few of my beautiful weddings from 2017. First up was Jenna and Hunter’s breathtaking First Creek Farm wedding this fall in Kansas City. Brides this venue is amazing and a great addition to Kansas City. I love their galvanized wind mills that blew in the threatening skies, the barn setup is perfect, and the pond and grounds around give plenty of opportunities for pictures. Seriously the photos at the end with the blue sky have no enhancement of the color it was crazy amazing. Happy the rain waited for everyone to tuck inside to dance the night away before the sky opened up. Jenna and Hunter thanks for being so calm and easy going. She didn’t dwell on the good luck rain she was marrying the man of her dreams. They are so cute and playful together and I loved capturing their love story.

Avery wanted snow for her senior photos, and we kept scooting her session back because of negative degree temps until we just decided to go for it.  We ended up with a 50 degree day and no snow hardly left on the ground. We made it happen and even got her snow and a lot of different looks to go with it. We spent the gloomy Sunday squelching through mud, traveled all over Weston, and even played with a little smoke, which made for some good laughs.  One of the smoke bombs jumped in my boot leaving the inside bright purple and giving me a nice little burn mark but totally worth it! This senior is a beauty inside and out.  She was game for everything I suggested. I love a winter shoot where I have nothing else going.  We were able to slow down a bit and take our sweet time.

Trying a new thing here with photos – kind of liking it let me know your thoughts!
